Ben Franklin Child Costume
Your child will look very distinguished when he puts on the Ben Franklin Costume. Available in medium and large sizes, the set includes a tricorn hat, jacket, burgundy knickers and black shoe covers. The burgundy jacket is accented with gold buttons on front and has an attached burgundy vest. It also has an attached white lace jabot on the neck and white ruffle trim on the wrists, which was common fashion for men at the time. Franklin was born in Boston in 1706. When he was 12, he was an apprentice to his older brother James, a printer. He did not get along with his brother so when he was 14 he ran away to Philadelphia where he became an apprentice to another printer. Eventually he opened up his own print shop, bought the Pennsylvania Gazette newspaper and got married. He was one of the five men who drafted the Declaration of Independence and was one of the Founding Fathers of the United Sates.
